indiscriminate fic reading

this is a text post to say: I have drunk several mugs of tea-spiked rum (… or rum-spiked tea, I think it was supposed to be rum-spiked tea but I may have failed at that) and am reading the AO3 ‘Homestuck’ tag indiscriminately

conclusions so far:

1. I did not mean to be reading this fic; I do not ship this pairing (unmentioned, because this is actually something I’m enjoying); this is an AU; everyone is very slightly OOC; and yet I find myself wishing it had more than five chapters, perhaps I should blame the tea
2. 75% of the fics are John/Dave; I don’t ship that either
3. damn, that thing where John goes back in time to Mindfang’s ship is really cool
4. No one has written the Dirk/Roxy I want
5. Maybe I should write the Dirk/Roxy I want, except: total self-indulgence without even an overarching plot to light the way
6. for that matter, no one has written Jake/Eridan
7. or Dirk/Eridan
8. and there isn’t enough Roxy/Sollux
9. maybe this’d go better if I shipped things that weren’t slightly mad
10. maybe this’d go better if I shipped things that weren’t entirely dependent on complex meta (or l33t h4xx0rs)
11. I wish Miracle Child would update
12. I wish Serendipity Gospels would update, even though I know that I will be amongst the first to know when it does
13. maybe people should just write School Stories On Alternia forever, that’d be good

16. wait, that’s like. All Helps backstory. That means I have to write it. Shit.
